The 2nd Annual United Theatre Trunk or Treat promises a spooktacular Halloween celebration in downtown Westerly, where children and families can experience a night of treats, activities, and entertainment! This year’s event will take place on Halloween night, Tuesday, October 31, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on High Street, transforming the area into a hub of Halloween festivities perfect for all ages.

Families are invited to explore a festive “trunk or treat” activation in the Municipal lot next to Miceli’s Furniture. Local businesses and community members will decorate their vehicles with creative themes, offering a safe and fun environment for trick-or-treaters to collect candy and treats. This popular setup creates an immersive Halloween experience, adding excitement to each stop along the way.

In addition to trick-or-treating, the United Theatre will host the Navigant Spooktacular Halloween Movie Drop-In and Crafting Station. Here, visitors can take a break from the candy-collecting chaos to participate in hands-on activities. The crafting station offers something for everyone, including adults who may feel nostalgic for Halloween crafts. There’s also a Halloween movie drop-in area, allowing attendees to catch a classic, spooky flick for an added dose of Halloween spirit.

At 6:00 pm, the festivities kick up a notch with a performance by the Providence Drum Troupe, a vibrant ensemble of musicians, acrobats, dancers, and hula hoopers. Known for their high-energy performances, the troupe will lead a Halloween costume parade along High Street, inviting Westerly’s ghosts, ghouls, and goblins to showcase their finest attire. This parade is open to everyone, making it an opportunity for kids, families, and even adults to join in the fun and show off their creative costumes. The parade culminates with an award ceremony, where the best costumes and the spookiest screams will be recognized.

Adding to the Halloween atmosphere, the 3rd Annual Pumpkin Stroll by the Westerly Library features pumpkins decorated by the community, bringing an extra layer of autumnal charm to High Street. Originally displayed at the library on October 26, these pumpkins will later be composted at the Yellow Farmhouse in Stonington, reflecting a sustainable end to this seasonal activity.

The United Theatre’s Trunk or Treat is a vibrant blend of community spirit, creativity, and Halloween magic, making it an unmissable event for locals and visitors alike. Whether you’re there for the trunk-or-treating, the crafting activities, or to dance along with the Providence Drum Troupe, this event offers something for everyone. It’s a safe, family-friendly way to enjoy Halloween and connect with the local community.
