Cranston West dropped a tight 7-5 decision to Smithfield in its home opener. Luke Dwyer led the Sentinels, reaching base in four of five plate appearances with a double, a run and an RBI. Smithfield kept pressure on throughout, finishing with a .513 on-base percentage.
